March is usually a great time for Mahimahi and Striped Marlin. Boats have been reporting a lot of Mahimahi being caught in the 15-25lb range so far this month. Boats are also catching smaller tuna in the 40-60 lb range. Not the big Ahi's yet over 100lbs but some nice smaller tunas. We have also had a good number of short bill swordfish reported in the 30-40lb range. The short bills look like long skinny marlin with you guessed it, a shorter bill.
For the bass fishing in Kauai, similar to last month, Tom has been catching large mouth bass in the 4-6lb range with some larger ones as well. He is also getting freshwater papio and small mouth bass. No Peacock Bass yet, we will have to wait for warmer weather. Kauai had a lot of rain the past few weeks so Tom has not been able to get out fishing as much as he would have liked. Hopefully the rains will subside and warmer weather is on the way.
