December was great for Mahi Mahi with boats reporting multiple catches. Mahi’s ranged from 15lb to over 40lbs so some really nice Mahi’s were caught. We also saw several nice Blue Marlin brought in or released. Other catches included Ono, Striped Marlin and Aku. During the first week of the year, Magic reported their first Ahi of 2025 weighing in at 123lbs. Late winter/early spring is usually good for Mahi Mahi, Striped Marlin and Spearfish so look for more of these as we head towards spring. On Kauai, Peacock Bass not biting this time of year, but the bass guide is catching other bass species. It’s freezing on the mainland so it’s a great time to get your shorts out and come fishing in Hawaii!
