In June we saw the Blue Marlin and Ahi catch pick up, with a 427lb reported in Kona as well as reports of catch and release of marlin. June was also good for Ono, with some nice one’s brought in. Ono don’t fight as hard as Mahi, but they are great for dinner. We have been seeing the Ahi catch pick up with some nice large one’s reported. Ahi pictured here was caught on the Magic on Oahu. Look for July to bring more Ahi, Blue Marlin and Ono throughout the month. Summer is the best time for these species so it’s a great time to fish if you are looking for some large fish action.
Bass fishing on Kauai has been good for large mouth bass with some good sized caught in the rivers. Haven’t seen too many peacock bass yet, so hopefully those will bite in July.
